Manual Says:
1. N_cavity/ N_ground = one LULC should have a value of 1 and the rest are on a relative scale between 0-1
<<from george 10/25 - I assume the problem you're pointing out here is that the manual says one value in each column should be 1. I'm guessing they've fixed the software so that it normalizes all the rest to the highest value - but report this on the trouble sheet in moodle - be clearer than you've been in this note.>>

2. F_Spring/ F_Summer = scale 0-1; consider % floral coverage and duration of flowering season (ie. land cover type that flowers only half the season at 80% floral coverage has value .40 OR land cover type that flowers the whole season with 80% coverage has value .80)

We have been in contact with Taylor, NCSU Prof's, and one grad student asking for "expert" opinion on our data input.
After our literature review, we decided to break apart our current LULC map:
1 Water
2 Urban
21 Developed, Open Space
22 Developed, Low Intensity
23 Developed Medium Intensity
24 Developed, High Intensity
3 Barren
4 Forest
5 Grassland
6 Agriculture
7 Wetlands
81 Pasture/Hay
82 Cultivated Crops


Data Needs:

1. Bee Species: (Apis, Bombus, Andrena, Halictus, Osmia, Xenoglossa)

2. Nesting Types: Ground Nests, Tree Cavity – basically a 1-0/Y-N value

3. Species activity by floral season—spring/summer (we can’t seem to include our own fall data)

4. Alpha- average foraging distance in km of each bee species

a. derived by using weights of each bee species

5. Relative index of nesting type availability (0-1)

6. Relative abundance of flowers in each LULC class for each season (0-1)



Expert opinions for #3, 5, 6

We have pollination model running with made up data on Kevin's computer and the in class computer. Alicia's computer is still a mystery. Pollination requires extra downloads outside of InVEST and needs admin rights to access 5th floor computer lab.

Alicia's computer will now run the pollination model with made up numbers. By saving the Guild and LU dbf in the Invest/pollination/input folder and adding and OID column in the excel spreadsheet, the model successfully runs.
